Brief Description:  Slammed last tank rib!

Sam Beal, an old friend, called and wanted to come over to see the project. I gave him the nickel tour and then put him to work. We sealed and riveted the last tank rib. It is the inboard most rib with an access panel and the tank vent fitting. We prepared all of the surfaces by cleaing them with MEK and then taped around the rib and skin to make cleanup easier. I then mixed the proseal and Sam held the rib while I buttered the flanges (I have known Sam a long time, so that's ok). We then clecoed the rib in and squeezed the rivets. I had to drill one out and reset it, but everything went ok. Next, we sealed and riveted in the doubler plate and the wing attach angle. As usual, cleanup took longer than actually riveting in the rib. Sam is thinking about starting his own RV project. I hope he does. I told him that today was as bad as it gets for construction (the tanks and the canopy are the most difficult parts of building) and that if he could do it today, he could easily build an entire plane.
