Brief Description: Removed flaps and started on floor nut plates
The crazy thing about building an aluminum airplane is that you fabricate and install a part only to remove it and move on to something else. After the triumph last night of getting the flaps working in unison, tonight I had to remove the flaps, flap actuators and the flap motor. I also removed the control columns so that I can later remove the wings. Since I did not have anyone around to help me yank the wings off, I proceeded to work on the floor boards. The plans provide that the floor is to ultimately be pop riveted on, but I will follow the lead of some others and make provisions to screw it on with #8 screws. This means that I will have to drill, debur and rivet on 99 (countem 99) nut plates. I started drilling the first 8 or so nutplates. This is going to be a real drudgery. The greatest problem will be deburring the holes underneath the flanges. They are almost impossible to reach. Also, I back riveted on the last stiffeners to the floor boards. Installing and taking out the floor boards with all of the stiffeners riveted on is a real adventure. With patience, however, it can be done.
