Brief Description:  More preparation to fit the wings

After finding an ambiguity in the plans about having some screw holes on the bottom of the wings at the roots, I e-mailed Vans for advice. Even though the screw holes are not in the plans, they said to drill out every other rivet on the bottom of the wings at the root. That's where the screws will go to fasten the bottom of the wings to the bottom fuselage skins. Fair enough. I drilled out every other hole and then marked them with lines and hash marks exactly 3" from the hole. Then, when I fit the wings and the holes are covered up by the fuselage bottom skins, all I have to do is extend the lines inboard 3" from the hash marks and that will be where the holes are underneath the fuselage skins. I also took this opportunity to sweep out and clean up the shop. There was a prodigious layer of dust everywhere and it felt good to get everything ship shape before tackling the wing fitting. Finally, I moved a bunch of equipment around and turned the fuselage sideways in the shop so that there will be room to fit the wings. It will be tight, but I think it will work. I will put the main gear legs in before pulling the wooden spar fillers and wheels out. Then, we can fit the wings.
