Brief Description:  main gear weldments installation

What a great day. First, I went to breakfast with my good buddy Jim Anderson. Then, I went to the airport and got to fly two young eagles. The weather was nice and the boys loved the flight. My copilot got in a good amount of stick time. After the young eagle flights, we had an EAA meeting on improving the young eagle program. Then, we all grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. After lunch, I went to a Corvette car show with Jim Anderson and my brother in law, Robby Hawthorne. There were come great cars. I cannot wait for my little 68 convertible to get out of the shop. Finally, as if that were not enough fun, I went down into the shop (tranquility base) to tackle installing the landing gear weldments. They were a booger to fit onto the center section even when they were on the bench. Now, that the center section is nestled in the fuselage, installing the main gear weldments was a barrel of fun. Shoe horning the weldments into place and fitting the bolts through the center section into the weldments required a lot of twisting, pulling and a fair amount of foul language. Finally, I wrestled them into place and drilled out the bolt holes where they attach to the side of the fuselage. Finally, I unbolted and unclecoed everything and yanked them out so that I can debur everything. Later, I will finish riveting the fuselage sides near the center section and bolt the weldments in for the final time.
