Brief Description: Fitted and drilled the rear deck
|
|
Tonight I drilled and fitted the rear deck, which helps stiffen up the fuselage structure and serves as a place for the tail surfaces to be bolted on. First, I put a level on the longerons around the center section station in the cockpit. I used my new Sears digital level. Cool. Once the longerons at the cockpit were level, I then moved the level down to the tail section where, miraculusly, it too was level, within 1/10th of a degree. I then drilled the rear deck plate onto the aft section of the longerons. After that, I fitted the angles and brackets I ginned up last night. After everything was drilled together, I did the usual drill (debur, scuff and prime) and clecoed everything back together. I ran out of time, or I would have riveted the deck on.
