This was a great day! I finally broke through the fear of driving rivets. Yesterday at the EAA meeting Mike Stewart told me to quit worrying about the rivets and just start. He told me the secret,; don't push the bucking bar into the rivet, drive the rivet into the bar. The skin will flex enough to set the rivet. After church, I practiced on my old RV-6 tail kit again by drilling out every other rivet that I had done before and then setting all new rivets. After about an hour, I started on my HS. First, I finished setting the rivets in the nose rib. Then I started driving the rivets in the front spar. Eureka! I just started doing it. One good rivet after another came out. I really got a rythm going. I set all of the rivets in the front spar (both sides) and the middle ribs. Then, I clecoed on the rear spar and set the top side rivets in the rear spar and the end ribs with the squeezer. I finally got too tired and left the bottom side aft and side rivets for tomorrow.
