After all of the Easter fanfare, I slipped into the shop for a little quality time with the wings. First, I put the nutplates on the brackets which attach the wing tank attach brackets to the fuselage. Then, Patrick helped me place the right wing on the table so that I could cut a slot in the wing tank attach brackets. This slot allows the bolt there to break free from the fuselage in the event I crash and the wings are forced backwards. It also helps prevent a breach in the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. I also started to put nutplates on the nose section of the inboard leading edge, but the fuel tank rib flange prevents the nutplates from sitting flush. I will have to ponder how to attach these nutplates so that they are flush and the screws that go into them won't be angled.
