Brief Description:

We went out to dinner with the Greene family (Steve, Carlyn, David, Chrissy and Steve's Mom, down from Appleton, Wisconsin) so I got a late start. I fabricated the tank attach bracket for the right fuel tank from the large angle stock in the kit. First, I drew out the shape on some cardboard and then transferred it onto the angle. Then, I rough cut the angle in the band saw. This is where I had my first ever band saw accident. I am usually very careful around these cutting tools, but my thumb slipped into the blade while I was trying to force the angle, resulting in an impressive amount of blood loss. Of course, it helps that I am on Plavix, a blood thinner, for my cardiac wellbeing. After nurse Vicki stanched the crimson flow, she felt it necessary to photograph my handiwork, complete with booboo lip. Miss Vick then did a professional bandage job on my thumb which was large and impressive. I can't imagine that the bandage for a reattached severed thumb would be any larger.Bloodied, but unbowed, I jamed the bandaged thumb in a leather glove and finished my fabrication for the night. I also fabricated the two fuel tank anti-rotation brackets, which prevent the fuel line fitting from rotating inside the tank when you tighten it from the outside.Drew and Anna come into town from Virginia Beach tomorrow, so we will have a full house for Christmas. Construction will be a little sparse until after Christmas. It will be great to have all the kids home. Even though I have enjoyed the empty nest experience, it's times like these that I realize how much I miss the boys and Anna. I can't wait to see the look on Drew's face when he sees how far I have come on the tail and wings.
