Brief Description:  Installed left fuel tank vent line

This being the first Saturday of the month, I went to the EAA Chapten 690 Pancake breakfast. It is like a mini air show every month. I had a great time and saw lots of RVers. Then, I met Jim Anderson in Norcross for a British Car show. Jim is restoring a beautiful Austin Healy BJ-8 and he saw several at the car show. He took some photos to help in his restoration effort. We had lots of fun, but then I had to return home and pay for my sins. Vicki wanted me to go to the Yellow Daisy Festival at nearby Stone Mountain Park. It is a craft show of epic proportions. People watching was fun, but there wasn't one tool, auto or airplane related booth there. At least I got a lot of exercise, walking about 2 miles. When I returned home, I finally got down into the shop after dinner. My goal was to tackle the fuel and vent line tasks. Well, the first thing I needed to do was drill a 1" hole in the side of the fuselage for the line from the left fuel tank to the fuel selector valve. As it turns out, there is no possible way for me to get a 1" hole saw into that area to drill the hole. If the plans had stated so before I installed the wings, it would have been a piece of cake to drill that hole, but now, the wing is slammed within a few inches of the fuselage and drilling that hole is a real conundrum. After much head scratching, I determined that I may be able to do it with a drill extension. So, I will have to go out and buy one. I then diverted my attention to trying to tackle the fuel tank vent lines. I did not have a line bending tool, but the 1/4" soft aluminum lines are easy to bend by hand. It takes a little technique and noodling, but I finally got somewhat of the hang of working with those lines. After a while, I fabricated the left fuel tank vent line and clamped it in with adel clamps. Next, I will tackle the right vent line. It should go much easier.
