Brief Description:  Started work on seats

Tonight I started on the construction of the seats only to find that I am short on aluminum angle. Apparently, Vans sends you just enough to get by. If you mess up a piece or two (or three) then you will not have enough aluminum angle at the end of the day. Well, here it is at the end of the day and I do not have enough angle to finish the seats. So, I just ordered what I needed from Aircraft Spruce. They ship quickly and I don't think they have the same handling charge that Vans has. On another note, I can see the light at the end of the fuselage tunnel. After the seats are completed, It will be time to fit the wings. All along, I have been assuming that I will need to haul the fuselage up to the garage to have enough room to fit the wings. This morning, however, I was in the shop before going to work and had an epiphany. By turning the fuselage perpendicular to it's current orientation, I will just have enough room for both wings to fit. This is great news. I was worrying about having to clean out the garage (Corvette, Triumph Spitfire and Honda motorcycle) for the wing assembly. Now, I can complete everything in the basement and not need to move out until final assembly at the airport. Once I fit the wings downstairs in the shop, I can remove them and put them back in the cradle until final assembly. I hope to have the fuselage finished before the end of June so that I can start on the finishing kit in hot weather. When working with the plexiglass canopy, it pays to have hot weather. The plexiglass is less likely to crack. Then, around fall, I will need the engine to begin fitting the cowling. That is a big nut to crack (about $24K). God willing, I hope to be finished and flying before Sun-N-Fun next April. It would be great to fly her there in 2009.
