Brief Description:  I am a pilot once again

Almost 3 years ago, I lost my pilot's medical certificate when I had an angioplasty and two stents placed in my heart. It has been a long road back, but the Friday before last, I finally received a new medical certificate. On Thursday, flying buddy Frank Settle took me out in our Cessna 172 (we have a partnership in the Skyhawk we call "Princess") and let me get some left seat time to help knock off the rust. Today, I took my flight review with instructor and friend Ken Sharpe. It was very thorough, to say the least. We spent 2.5 hours on the ground, reviewing Federal Aviation Regulations, airspace issues and other topics, and then we took Princess out for a stroll. Ken realy wrung me out. We did approach stalls, departure stalls (both left and right), steep turns, slow flight, a simulated GCA approach and short field landings. At the end of the day, I was exhausted, but exhilirated. I will never take flying for granted again. I will fly as much as I can, and I will stay proficient. I also will finish up my instrument rating within the next year. It is great to be back in the air.
