Brief Description: Finished aft baggage bin and rudder pedals
Tonight I riveted the aft baggage bin floor and installed all of the nutplates to finish the aft baggage bin structures. I then clecoed in the baggage bin floor (it does not get riveted in until much later) and I screwed in all of the other pieces to make sure they still fit. They do. Last, Vicki came down and helped me buck the rivets holding the nutplates for the bolts holding the rudder pedals to the firewall. I then bolted the rudder pedal assembly in and it fits well. Of course, I will have to remove both the rudder pedals and the aft baggage bin, but it is good to see them installed in the fuselage. Next, I take the exciting step of installing the horizontal and vertical stabilizers. That should be a challenge in my cramped basement. I think I will be able to install the horizontal stabilizer, but the vertical stabilizer is not likely to fit with my low ceiling height. I may have to put off that step until I move the fuselage to the garage upstairs. I anticipate making that move later in the year.
