Brief Description:  Airventure 2007

I know. I know. I have been gone a long time and have not worked on the airplane in several weeks. Well, I have an explantation. I was at Airventure 2007 (known by the old folks as simply "Oshkosh"). It is by far the largest airshow in the world, set in a little town in central Wisconsin every July. I had a wonderful time, saw thousands of beautiful planes and spoke to scores of interesting people. I took over 100 photos, but can only post a few here. At Oshkosh, we rented a great house and filled it with like minded airplane nuts. At night, we cooked together (one night was Spaghetti Night and one was Brat Night) and told hanger tales well into the night. One night we even had a Shuttle Astronaut stay over, telling us great NASA stories. There were over 200 RVs in attendence and I took scores of photos of the best looking RV-8s and RV-8As to get ideas for my ship. There were also hundreds of vendors at the show, with all sorts of new and exciting instruments, radios and accessories. In about a year, I will be looking to purchase flight instruments and navigation/communication radios. There were many highlights for me, including my visit to Pioneer Field (a grass field behind the museum which seems suspended in the 30s), the BBQ at the tranquil seaplane base, and the tribute to Margaret Wilcox (Frank's wife, who died last year) at the memorial wall behind a beautiful little chapel. It was great to see Frank again (he now lives in Portland). After all of that airplane adreneline, I can't wait to get back to construction.
