Brief Description:  Sam and I fit the bagage bulkhead

Sam Beale came over tonight after an extended absence. He and his wife, Joyce, went on a fabulous cruise to Alaska. I can't wait to see his pictures. We discussed the progress on the fuselage and my paint tests. I thought that I would start painting the cockpit with the final paint, but I thought that I should run one more paint test. I will prime a scrap piece of aluminum, let the primer cure for a few days, and then scuff the primer with a scotchbrite pad, wipe down everything with some mineral spirits and then put the final coats on. If that works ok with the test piece, then that is how I will proceed with the cockpit. In the meantime, I took some MEK solvent and took off the primer where some sharpie had bled through. Better safe than sorry. I don't want it eventually bleeding throught the top coat of paint. Later, I will prime those places where the primer and sharpie were wiped off. Sam and I then tackled the forward baggage compartment. First, we had to assemble and drill the baggage bulkhead to the forward cross member that was riveted in early in the fuselage construction. Nothing seemed to fit, so we checked the plans and it turns out that I had installed the cross member in backwards long ago. So, I had to drill out the rivets and then re-install it the correct way. Then we drilled the bulkhead to the cross member. The bulkhead was then drilled to the exterior forward fuselage skins.
