Brief Description: Paint test and nutplate mania
|
|
Today (Saturday) my niece's husband (would that make him my nephew in law?), Dan Christiansen, and I went to the gun range to shoot AR-15 rifles. At the range, you can even rent a machine gun, which, of course, we did. We had way too much fun. Back home, I hit the shop to perform a paint test. I want to paint the cockpit area a light gloss gray and I want to use "rattle cans" instead of doing the whole compresser/sprayer thing. I consulted the Vans Air Force blog and they recommended three different brands, Ace, Krylon and Rustoleum. I bought one can of each and then painted six strips of aluminum, three primed and three just bare. However, I scuffed all of the samples. I will wait till everything dries a few days to determine which one I will use. Later, Mark and I riveted the rear seat belt anchors to the aft fuselage. I then spent quite a while drilling, deburring and riveting in nutplates for the floor ribs. It was a good day.
