Brief Description:  Installed flap actuator

Tonight Jim Weed came over and we tackled the flap actuator assembly. The assembly comes with two nylon pillow blocks which hold the flap actuator tube. We had to shave off the inside edges of the pillow blocks so that the tube and block assembly would fit in the appointed space at the rear of the cockpit area (behind the rear seat). Then, we drilled the blocks for bolts as per the plans and drilled through the holes in the blocks into the floorboards and the underlying longerons. Later, the longerons will get some nut plates to hold the bolts. Then, we had some extra time, so Jim and I started working on the assembly which holds the rear of the control column, just in front of the rear seat. I cut out the large angles and Jim filed them to the final shape. Jim is a commanding officer at the Gwinnett County Civil Air Patrol. It was very interesting to talk to him about their organization.
