Brief Description:  Tranquility Base gets environmental enhancement an

Today was Sunday and we had more than the usual scheduling issues. By the afternoon, however, Miss Vick (the wife, not the airplane) went to Home Depot and purchased a small window air conditioner for Tranquility Base. We both had gift cards, so we put them together and got a nice AC for less than $50 net cash outlay. Thirty minutes later, this little jewel was pumping cool air into the shop, making it a lot more pleasant in the 87 degree weather. The plans said that it was time to run the rudder cables. This was really exciting for two reasons. First, this will be the first actual set of controls to be installed in the fuselage. They are being installed for the first and last time, since they will not be removed for later construction. Second, I was very worried that I could not get the cables into the fuselage since my rudder cable fairing modification left no room to get the cable eye ends in. However, after about 15 minutes of fiddling, I was able to bend them a litttle and squeeze the cable eye in (with the rudder cable behind it). Thankfully, the fairing bent back into the original position with no problem. It looks good. Running the cables through the rest of the fuselage was a snap. Literally. You just snap the plastic bushings into the holes which are already drilled in the fuselage bulkheads and then snake the stainles steel cable through the bushings. I spent the rest of the night working on the center cockpit floorboard, along with its attendant stiffeners.
