Brief Description: PDK Neighbor Day and working on fuselage gussets
Today was the annual Neighbor Day at Peachtree DeKalb airport (PDK) in Atlanta. It is Georgia's busiest general aviation airport. I went with my bud Jim Anderson and my oldest son, Drew. Drew brought his new puppy, a Bullmastiff named Duke. This was his first time in public (he is only 17 weeks old) and Drew wanted to socialize him. That worked out well because about 8 jillion kids stopped to pet Duke during the air show. We all had a great time, although Duke was tuckered out at the end. Later, I went into the shop to work on the plane. I finished up the floor support brackets and then I fabricated the triangular gussets that fit behind the aft cockpit bulkhead (the one just behind the rear passenger). As per the plans, I tapped a 1" square of .125" thick aluminum so that I can screw the tiedown rings into it and store them when they are not installed on the wings. The plans don't specify where the third tiedown ring goes, so I guess they did not think about a tricycle gear setup.
