Brief Description: Bought a Corvette and worked on bulkheads
|
|
It was an exciting day today because I finally located and bought a Corvette! I have been looking for a vintage Corvette for years. Last Friday, I located this one and on Saturday I made the deal. Today, Vicki and I went over to pay the seller and pick it up. It is a 1968 convertible (with a removable hard top). I believe it is in good enough condition that I can drive it (on the weekends) for a couple of years before having to do any serious restoration work. That way, I can finish my RV without being distracted with a Corvette resto project. Tonight my shop was invaded by our cat, Cookie, who seemed determined to exmine the plans while I was trying to figure things out. She stayed in the shop all night, even when I was making major noise with the band saw. I worked on three bulkheads., two of which were very easy. The 811 bulkhead (the second closest to the tail) was more of a challenge. I had to taper two 1-1/2" aluminum bars with the band saw, the sander and a file. It took quite a while before I could wrestle them into submission. In the end, however, they looked pretty good.
