Brief Description:  Fitted the landing gear weldments to the center se

A big package from Vans was waiting for me at the door when I came home from work. It was the new firewall. Hopefully, I will build this one correctly instead of backward. I spent the night fitting the landing gear weldments to the forward center section. As promised in the instructions, it was very tedious work. First, I fit the weldments on the center section and placed one of the large wing attachment bolts in the hole. So far, so good. Next, I tried to put in the next bolt, but it would not go in. I had to see where it was interfering with the landing gear weldment and then mark it with a red sharpie. Then, I took the weldment out and clamped it in a vise to file the hole a little with a rat tail file. Then I put it back on the center section to see if the second bolt would fit. There are over 10 bolts to fit for each weldment (there are two weldments). As you can imagine, that is a lot of trial fitting, filing and all around fiddling. Even when the bolts fit, they are extremely tight. I have worn the gold cadmium plating off of the shafts of the big close tolerance bolts. I think I may have to replace them when I fit the wing for the final time. They are tres expensive.
