Brief Description: Fabricated servo doubler for right wing
Sam Beale came over again tonight and we put the right wing in the stand and the left wing on the table. Before riveting on the bottom skin, we needed to fit the autopilot servo to the aileron bell crank. First, we determined that the best place for the servo is the wing rib just outboard of the aileron bell crank. Next, we cut some 1/8" plate to serve as the doubler for the servo. We then drilled the servo to the doubler plate and drilled holes for some nutplates to be installed later. Then, we back drilled the doubler plate to the wing rib and some more (smaller)doubler plates for the other side of the wing rib. It looks great and it will be easy to install or remove the wing autopilot servo through the inspection port under the wing.
