Tonight, I back riveted the stiffeners to both aileron skins. Back riveting is so nice. It is easy to set the rivets and the top of the skins looks good. Like buttah. Next, I bent the trailing edges to the right angle with the wooden squisher thingee I used to squeeze the trailing edges of the tail surfaces. It was only 4 feet wide and the ailerons are 4.5 feet wide. I called Jaimie Painter, who told me that you could just squeeze them in sections to get the same result. Worked like a charm. Then, I began trying to figure out the aileron spar and bracket configuration. I drilled out the spar doubler plates, as per the plans and then clecoed on the two end brackets. The plans are a little confusing (at least to me, a non-engineering type). I will have to cogitate on this setup a little while longer to convince myself that I have the right configuration before drilling and riveting in earnest.
