Brief Description:  Installed fuel tank on left wing

Tonight I installed the fuel tank on the left wing. Before installation, I had to rivet the most forward hole in the main ribs to the spar because those holes are covered up when the fuel tank is screwed onto the spar. That step was not included in the plans, but it has to be done at this point, so I just did it. I also riveted the nut plates to the inboard portion of the spar to hold the bolts for the most inboard z bracket on the fuel tank. That step is also missing from the plans, but others document that step on the internet build sites. I had to drill new holes for one of the nut plates because the hole for the z bracket was just a smidge off. Vicki helped me rivet one of the nutplates on because I could not reach the gun and the bucking bar at the same time. Then, it was just a matter of fiddling with the bolts to get them to fit through the holes in the spar into the nut plates on the z brackets attached to the back of the fuel tank. As per the plans, I installed half of the bolts. Then I put screws in every other hole for the top and bottom tank skins to fasten them to the spar. The finished product is the left wing with both the leading edge and the fuel tank installed. It looks great.
