Brief Description:  Wing prep, day four

Jim Anderson came over this morning and we were slammin aluminum to beat the band. First, we finished deburring all of the wing skins (except for the leading edges) and scuffed the back side for priming. After that, we dimpled wing skins till we were blue in the face. Then we dimpled some more. After dimpling each wing skin, we hauled it up to the garage where we cleaned the back side with mineral spirits and primed it. The dimpling operation went super fast with two working, even though I had a few brain farts. The first ut oh was when I tried to reposition the wing skin just as Jim was coming down with the hammer on the dimple die. We placed a perfect dimple where no dimple or hole should be. God protects drunks and fools, however, because the stray dimple went on a place in the skin which is overlapped by another skin. No harm, no foul. Later in the day, I was merrily chatting with Jim while we slammed about a dozen dimples in one skin before I noticed that I had placed the skin upside down. Criminey! Luckily, I had done this once before and had learned from Vans that it is ok to simply turn the skin over and re-dimple the holes in the right direction. I would not want to do that more than once, but in this case, once is enough. At the end of the day, all of the flat wing skins are now deburred, dimpled and primed. SWEET! Next, on to the leading edge skins and ribs.
