Brief Description:  A lot of misc. canopy tasks

Got a lot done today as well. It feels like I am rolling along in the project again. Last month, not so much.

First, I drilled out the stop blocks and put screws in them. No big deal.

I had cleco'ed on the windscreen. The fit was pretty good (I thought). I still needed to do some fine tuning and trimming. This took a while. I was removing about 1/8" at a time. Finally got it done.

Then I needed to "level" the windscreen relative to the sliding canopy This took some doing. I crazy glued together some stainless washers. They were each about 3/100 of an inch. I went along each cleco and measured the relative position of the windscreen relative to the sliding canopy. The correction varied from 0 washers to 6 washers 18/100 of an inch (about 3/16). Other than getting crazy glue on my fingers, the shims worked great.

Next I worked on the canopy latch. The cuts for the latch tube on the slider went well - first cut was dead on - used a 3" cutting wheel. Then I made a mistake, I overtimmed the latch itself and weakened it. I knew it would break and it did. I ordered a new one from Vans - $15. I probably could have fabricated one, but might as well use Vans.

I have a couple of questions for Van's tech staff in the morning. Then I'm going to tap the roll bar tomorrow.
