Brief Description: Set wheel pants and transition fairings
This is my first major fiberglass activity, and I was dreading it.
The instructions for the wheel pants were very vague about the cutout. Then I made the mistake of predrilling and setting the plate nuts on the wheel pant mounting brackets. How to get the holes to line up when the wheel pant is in place, and you can't see the plate nuts? A real puzzler.
I taped a LED headlamp to the tire, with the center of the beam projecting through the platenut hole, onto the fiberglass pant shell. The light trasmitted though the opaque material, creating a perfect drill guide.
As in all things, the first one took 4 hours. The second one less than an hour.
I then put the Cleveland transition fairing in place - $195 - money well spent!!! Those things are perfect!!
Tomorrow, I promised my daughter some manual labor to help her move. If I get any time, it will be on to the nose wheel fairing.
