Brief Description:  missed a bunch of log entries

No photos.

I have been remiss with my log entries.

For the second half of march, I focused on flight surfaces. I got all the elements of the airplane together.

In the last week of march, I tried to domy flow tests. At first - no love. The fuel pump ran, but would not pump fuel. I checked all my connections - no luck. AAAARRRRGGGG!!!

I thought about it, and figured that the fuel pump must have shipped with a lubricant inside. With the cold temps and the long shelf time of the fuel pump, maybe the bypass float got stuck in oil gunk. I took my $9, Harbor Freight brake bleeder vacuum pump and drew fuel through the pump to the engine I only sucked through about 4 oz of fuel, but it came through all brown and oily.

I tried the fuel pump again, and it worked instantly. The fuel pump puts out 60 gph in a level attitude and in an 18 degree climb. Only about a 1% reduction in thd climb mode. This is about 3x the fuel I need.

I never like the fuel line above the engine from the fuel flow sensor to the spider box. I changed it.

On Saturday, 4/6, I tried to start the engine. No love.

Long story. The throttle cable motion is reversed. Spent a long day with Jerry dropping the fuel injector servo and reversing it, then reversing the mixture cable motion by rotating the lever arm - about 6 hours all in. I now need to order a new throttle cable. Cable won't come until around 4/20.

I had Mark Pankratz, on 4/11 do an EAA tech counsellor inspection. He told me the airplane was a mess - poor housekeeping - knew that. He also gave me a punch list of a few bolt lengths, and shaving down the counter weights on the elevators. These items were pretty doable.

Lastly, Mark found some bad rivets in the deck of the tailcone. To get at these, I needed to pull both stabilizers, the rudder, and the elevators. I did that over two nights, and redid the rivets.

I have the horizontal stabilizer back on with the elevators. Need to put the vertical back on tomorrow. - a lot of work.
