Tonight, I almost had a major disaster. I pulled the goveror pickup off the back of the engine. It was hard to reach, but not too much of a problem. I don't have a cover plate for it yet, so I went to put a dissicant pack in the opening. To my horror, it just fell into the crankcase well of oil.
I was working on the back side of the engine, next to no access and absolutely no visibility. I had visions of having to drop the oil pan of the engine - what a mess.
I tried to fish it out with 4 different needle nosed pliars. I made a dredging hook out of wire. No luck. I feared I was pushing it deeper and deeper in the oil reservoir.
I changed positions a couple of times, and could finally feel it with my fingers. I gently pulled it out.
