Brief Description:  Put oil in the engine. schedule to first flight

I had previously put coolant and oil in the tanks. Today I followed the procedure in the Rotax manual to pressurize the oil through the engine until an oil pressure reading was achieved.

The comment I would make regards the oil tank cap, which is far from air tight when under pressure. I found that pushing down on it slowed the leakage to a point where my medium sized compressor could just about keep up. The Rotax manual says oil pressure will be achieved in about 20 turns, but sometimes 60 may be required. I was definitely in the 60+ camp. Since I could not see my oil pressure gauge while holding the tank cap and turning the prop, I watched for oil to start pumping out the return line. Running back to the gauge showed about 14 psi, so I closed everything up. Running the starter for a few revolutions will now build up about 32 psi.

I am excited about seeing the end of the project at this point!! Here is what is left:

* I move the plane to the airport this Saturday. The following week will be spent on rigging and getting the engine running and carbs balanced.

* On Wed May 22nd I have my BFR scheduled. I have not flown during my divorce, so it will be a refresher course.

* I am hoping I can get the DAR to inspect the plane on June 1. He has all the paperwork, and I just need to confirm he is available.

* On June 3rd I head to Kansas for transition training.

* I should be ready to go for a first flight when I return from Kansas on the 5th. Then it is just watch the weather for the right conditions. Woot!
