Brief Description: Paint the spinner and wing tips.
I painted the remaining fiberglass parts during this session. This consisted of the spinner, back plate, wing tips, and windshield hold down strip.
There were just a few spots on the wing tips that I needed to use green bond filler. A couple of low spots, and a couple of places where the fiberglass had failed or chipped.
With the exception of the spinner back plate, I used a sandable primer (Slick Sand) and green to get a nice smooth surface before the epoxy primer was applied.
When I painted the cowl, I got a lot of orange peel. In an effort to remedy this I changed all the filters and driers in my paint line, and it seemed to really help. I did have a small amount of orange peel in the spinner, about as much as can reasonably be expected. I thought it might bother me to have spinning orange peel on the nose of the plane, so I sanded it out and buffed it back to a nice shine.
The painted spinner.
And matching back plate. Hold down strip in background.
