Brief Description:  Installing Skylight Ribs

This weekend's task is to get the skylight installed.

I started by marking a centerline on top of the skylight ribs. To do this I used a couple of cleko clamps on a fine line felt tip marker as shown in the image below. I first made a mark near the center of the rib, then turned the rib over and made another line. The center is theoretically right in the middle of these two lines.

My ribs were slightly under bent at both the front and the back. I found that it was easiest to see this when I just set the rib on top of the wing. I tipped a stool chair I have on its side which provided a round surface to push on and tweak the bend radius of the ribs. Once I got one of them done, I used it as a pattern to get the other two bent.

My kit was an early one, and as with other produced in the same time range, the rear attach points for the outer ribs is too short, so I just copied what others have done and fabricated a couple of extensions to locate the ribs correctly. I guess I am more focused on getting the plane done than taking pictures, so I don't have pictures of the extensions...
