Brief Description:  Painting Remaining Wing.

This is an exciting turning point for me -- I would venture to say that with the completion of the paint on the remaining wing I now have more airplane than kit -- Wah Hoo!!

On the most basic level, this wing was a repeat of the first, so I didn't take a lot of pictures, although there were several things to note:

* On the advice from a friend/neighbor (Thanks Justin!), I purchased 3M green masking tape from the auto parts store. This made a world of difference in the issues I was having getting the blue tape to stick. I still did manage to get a slight amount of black over spray under (under spray??) the tape and onto the white, but a few minutes with 1500 grit wet made it all disappear.

* Even though I had checked, I had a couple of metal filings under the fabric, pinched between the fabric and the trailing edge tube. These filings caused small (1/32") holes during sanding. I used a popsicle stick to push the filings out of place, and then use CA super glue and some baking powder to fill the holes before the final coat of primer and sanding.

* Care is needed, especially on the bottom, to avoid sanding lines into the primer where the fabric meets the spars.

* On the first wing I had two issues I wanted to avoid on this wing. 1) too much trash in the clear, and 2) I got about 3 very small fish eyes in the clear. Cleaning the wing 3 times with degreaser followed by a tack cloth took care of these issues.

This is the last large part to be painted, and the parts get smaller and smaller from here on out. As is usually the case, this wing turned out excellent, and now that I am almost done I finally feel like I am getting the hang of this painting stuff....
