Brief Description:  N74SG Is On Its Gear!

I'm incredibly happy. Other than inflating the tires, no additional work was done today on the airframe. However, my wife and I got the plane off the worktables and onto its gear for the first time. It isn't a logical thing, but I feel like this evening it is more of an airplane than it was yesterday.

The process getting it down with only the two of us (thanks, coronavirus) was less clever and more brute force than I'd planned. The weight is markedly aft, without the engine on the firewall. This meant gently tipping it backwards onto the main gear was right out. Instead, we managed to get the tables out of the way, leaving the fuesalge balanced on a sawhorse under the main gear strut. Then my significantly better half lifted the tail, and I lifted the nose by the gear leg. A rope tied around the sawhorse allowed me to pull the sawhorse out from under the plane with my left hand, and then we gently lowered the airfame.

Very cool, no problems, very gentle, and I am very happy I won't be doing that again.

I do wish their were pictures of this, but alas, both my wife and I only have the two arms each, and they were more than occupied. You can see in the pictures the rearranged and cleaned workshop. Not pictured; a couple of now very dead, very huge black widow spiders.
