Brief Description:  Controls et al.

So a while back, John E. gave me a handful of tools, called Wedgelocks. They are the cleco-looking things in the picture attached. They use a jackscrew to tighten up two pieces of metal way further than a cleco could ever dream. I tried using them and couldn't figure it out.

Well today I put the rudder pedal skin reinforement into the nose of the fuselage. It's 0.063" 6061-T6, which doesn't sound like much, but it's very resistant to bending . I broke out the Wedgelocks, and after pinching myself pretty horribly, managed to use them to pin the reinforcement in place and rivet it in. Straight talk, ya'all. Buy some of these. They are magic.

The rudder pedals I'm using are the same dimension as the per plans ones, only they're cast aluminum pedals and feel way better. The only thing they lack is the 1" side extension to mount the control rod to. I cut up some steel, and shaped it into a 1" extension and mount point. The right side is sitting around drying after being laquer coated. I'll take some pictures once they are on the pedals.

I also test fit a front control rod and the rudder cables; they fit perfectly.

Lastly, John gave me his spare aviation flaring tool for brake/air/fuel lines. I got the rust off of it, cleaned it up, and gave it a good coat of Rusoleum after taping off the working surfaces. That'll come in handy at some future point in time.
