Brief Description:  Main Gear and Bottom Skin

Yesterday my dad came over to see the progress on the plane. I proceeded to put him to work, helping me flip the fuselage over so I can get the underside finished.

Today I got the main gear positioned and drilled. And let me just say I'm glad I could swap out drill batteries regularly. That drained a couple of 20V packs twice each.

Then I got the unnamed bulkhead that fits between the rear ribs C4 and C5 built, drilled, deburred, phosphated, and installed. Thankfully that was pretty quick. This bulkhead separates the control stick from the air brake mechanism.

Lastly, I got about halfway through riveting the bottom skin. The double row of rivets joining the bottom skin to the spar wrap is complete, as are the much longer rivets joining the skin to the longerons. I've got one of the rear ribs riveted, and just need to rivet the last three rear ribs. Then I'll be ready to flip the fuselage back over.

Then comes the control linkages, rudder pedals, tail cone, upper bulkheads, and instrument panel. So, you know, just some details...
