Brief Description:  Interior Trim, and Mishap

This weekend, I spent rather a lot of time working on the plane. This went poorly.

So the first picture shows the trim piece installed for the starboard side of the pilot's foorwell. You can also see the industrial velco strips installed on the control stick trough, These are installed throughout, allowing all of the panels to be literally ripped out as needed, with no fasteners protruding through. All well and good.

No, the mayhem began on Sunday afternoon. I was very tired, and decided I would get the pilot's control stick cover plate finished off before I called it a day. Mistake one; if one is that tired, call it a day at that point, not afterwards. Second error; I went to use a hole saw on a 20" piece of steel, and forgot to clamp it down, becuase I was tired. Alert readers will not be too surpised to hear that I cut myself pretty decently. Pictures 2 and 3 show blood spatter on the nose of the plane and inside the avionics bay, roughly six feet from where I was standing.

The good news is, other than lots of bleeding and pain, I'm fine. The giant desk-mounted Cuisenart I turned my drill into only cut into the back of my thumb, about 2.5cm across and about 0.6cm deep. I managed to miss veins, arteries, tendons, and bone, which is a matter of pure luck. I'm putting up the pictures of the HIGH VELOCITY BLOOD SPATTER rather than pictures of the rather awful looking wound for a very good reason. It is a reminder to myself and a note to others to avoid using power tools when tired. Important safety tip, that.
