Brief Description:  Skinning the Wing Stubs Part II

KitLog truncated my last post, and deleted everything from both the local copy and the web copy that was 'too long.' So that's a lot of work that evaporated. I'll rewrite:

With this change to the plans, Here is my install proceedure:

1. Install the bottom skin
2. Place the top skin, drill and cleco
3. Remove the clecos from the top skin forward of the main spar
4. Cut Template B at the location of the aft of the main spar flange, making the top of the nose skin template
5. Tape the remaining half of Template B to Template D
6. Tape Template D to Temaplte C, forming the nose skin template

DOUBLE CHECK THE FACINGS OF YOUR TEMPLATES

7. Cut out the nose skin and gently apply a 45-degree bend where the middle of Template D was located
8. Adhere the nose rib template to the skin of the fusealge as a guide
9. Slide the top of the nose skin UNDER the top of the wing skin
10.Bend the nose skin around the nose of the wing stub
11. Line the aft edge of the nose skin up with the location of the aft end of Template B
12. Drill and cleco the bottom of the nose skin to the bottom of the main spar and the bottom of the nose ribs
13. Push the nose skin under the top skin until it lines up with the aft edge of the main spar flange
14. If Template D is the correct length, there is now just enough skin on the nose to conform to the curved leading edge, and a gentle curve preformed to assist the skin in bending.

VERIFY AGAINST TEMPLATE ON THE FUSELAGE SKIN

15. Clamp the wing from top skin to bottom skin, trapping the nose skin in the correct location
16. Drill the rivet holes in the nose skin, using the top skin as a template
17. Remove the tops and nose skin, deburr, seam and prime as necessary
18. Attach the top skin aft of the main spar
19. Attach the nose skin overlapping the top skin and the bottom skin
