Brief Description:  Wing Rib Organization, Blueprint Error Checking, a

Okay, so I got the wing ribs sorted out and labeled. I purchased them from Ben Carson, and they are outstanding. During thi time, I pulled out the ribs for the stub wings, labeled in the blueprints as C1, C2, C7 and C8. They are now zinc primed and have been test fit.

However, I found out the blueprints have an error. They list nine (9) pairs of nose rib main ribs of 0.020" 6061-T6, and one (1) pair of nose main rib of 0.040" 6061-T6. In point of practical fact, that should be 9 and 2. Dave Thatcher didn't didn't add in one of the stub wing ribs. Basicaly, he copied his count from the main wing interspar ribs. The count was correct there, becuase the C1, C2, C7, and C8 ribs are not duplicates of the main interspar ribs. The nose ribs for the stub wings, however; those are duplicates, and so the numbers are a bit off. I validated this information with Dave Thatcher on the builders' web forum, so that's good. Awsome note; Dave Thatcher saw my question, and I got a complete carification within a day or two. Also Ben Carson checks the builders' forum regularly. He saw the question and answer posts, and reached out to me to let me know he'd be sending along the missing ribs at no additional charge.

Seriously, if you are building a Thatcher CX5, buy the spars and wing ribs from Ben. I have never seen any company or organization that manages to hit 'fanatical customer support' like he does. And I'm pretty sure that he is the company in toto, so that's extra impressive.
