Brief Description:  Tailcone Bottom Skin

The last two days were spent putting the lower skin on the tailcone. Yesterday I got the 0.032" skin on far end between F10 and F12 where the horizontal stabilizer will eventually live. Today my dad came over and helped me get the thin skin on from F8 to F10. This was a lot of work, with lots of flush riveting and curve transitions that utterly fail to follow conic sections. I have literally no idea how someone is supposed to install the tailcone skins without assistance.

Design issues include contradictory measurements in the tailcone blueprints, F9 bulkhead plans that do not match up with the skin positions for the station shown on the plans, and stringers that will be pulled out sideways from the fuselage by the skin, as thetailcone has insufficient structural elements to capture and retain the skins until all 360-degrees of the tailcone skin is installed. I think the design plan was for everything to be retrained by straps until the side skins go on.

I enlisted my dad to brainstorm fixes for these design issues, now I just have to implement them.
