The firewall is finished! I didn't finish it during the week like I had planned, and had to get it done on the weekend. My first mistake of the build process, I mounted the 3/4" aluminum angle ledger to the wrong side of the firewall at first. I ended up with the tabbed flange facing rearward instead of forward.
I made what I think is the right call, and called it quits for th night. Came back first thing in the morning when I was rested, and set it right. The whole thing was much easier when I wasn't tired. A good second lesson was learned here.
One of the hard things during this build will be carving time out to work on the airplane without working so late that I start making mistakes due to fatigue. It's like flying, in that way. Good judgment and accurate self assement is key.
I gotta say, the firewall feels awfully flimsy for something I'm gonna hang two-hundred pounds of engine off of. But I trust the design, and it surely isn't more fimsy that the Remos I'm renting...
