Brief Description:  Firewall construction

I cut out MDF formers for the firewall, attached the template to the zinc-coated steel firewall, and drilled out the perimeter. Electric shears made quick work of cutting the bulkead out. I'm not conviced that the MDF formers were much use for this bulkhead. Given all the tabs, I bet that a wooden block would have been as useful and a lot faster. But over three days I made the first actual piece of the airplane!

Insert a pause here for a very brief celebration.

My biggest takeaway from this is that I can get parts done during the work week as long as I just do an hour here and there. I don't want this plane to become a weekend-only project; that way lies madness and seven-year builds. I figure that if I average one-half-an-hour a day on weekdays, and just six hours on weekends, I'm at a two-year build. If I can up those numbers, I can get it down to less. So I'm writing this in my build log so that Future-Sean will read this, and remember that steady progress ervy day is the winning strategy. It was on Day One. It will be on Day Seven-Hundred.
Now stop reading this and get back to doing something useful.
