I have been struggling for 3 days with the control tube and pushrod; rod is wtill rubbing on the inside of the tube. Discovered it was happening in the middle of the tube due to slag and material inside the tube. Constructed a home made roto rooter from a mop handle wrapped with sandpaper and cleared the crud. After multiple times of sanding and refitting brass bushings, trying various configurations of thick and thin washers, grinding the inside of the tube where I welded it, etc. etc. I finally got it working perfectly, no binding or excessive play in any of the bearings, and bolt to tube clearances check good.
