Brief Description:  Start prepping ribs for primer

Started prepping the leading edge ribs of the left wing using MEK and scotchbright pad. This only lightly scuffed the surface and removed my labeling marks. This process will take awhile by the time I get through all the ribs. So, I am becoming increasingly confused about what and how to go about preparing and priming the aluminum parts. I have been using Dupli-Color Self Etching spray paint on the emp and the wing spars to date. But the carrier agent is not bio-friendly and I am using a lot of cans of paint. Even at $4.77 a can from Wal-Mart, it adds up quick. My prep options include alumiprepping, then alodining, the priming with a 2-part epoxy primer. Another tedious and time consuming process but it is said by those before me, it will hold up to almost anything. i gues this is my endoctunation into...."The Primer Wars". Well I will sleep on it. There are other alternatives out there. Time for more research.
