Brief Description:  Applied Sealant to Rudder Trailing Edge

Used Flamemaster brand tank sealant from Van's to seal the trailing edge. First I used acetone to thoroughly clean the trailing edge wedge and the trailing edge of the skins. Then I mixed the tube of tank sealant per package instructions. The contents seemed pretty thick and after trying to use a standard calking gun the tube bucked up at an angle and the rear plug turned sideways in the tube. In other words it could not be dispensed through the tube. So I took the rear plug out and used a narrow screwdriver to scoop out and spread a thin coat of sealant on both sides of the wedge.

I then put the trailing edge wedge in place and clecoed the skins, wedge and angle aluminum. The excess sealant oozed out the triling edge and I will wait for it to completly dry and scrape it off with a razor. I will let the assembly set up for the next several days.
