Brief Description:  Spar Cap Installation

No work accomplished in the shop this weekend. My sister recently bought a home in NC so my wife and I headed down there with a truck loaded with handyman tools to give her a hand with some projects on the house that was built in the 1980's.

The second reason for the trip was to look at an apartment for 55 and over to get my mother a place to move into that would be in a better climate and closer to my sister. She has been living in the in-law apartment that her and dad built on to the original house but at 89 years old she really needs warmer weather than New England, a place without stairs, and be closer to my sister who works as a nurse practicioner. So we looked at the apartment and secured it.......will be moving Mom there in April.

Getting back into the shop my first task was going to be to get the spar caps on permanently. I clekoed both of the caps on and checked the fit. I noticed the right spar cap had a snap bushing for a wire pass-thru that was interfering with the cover sitting flat. I removed the cover after marking the location and used a sanding drum to make clearance for the snap bushing flange.

With that done and the spar caps clekoed I began to insert the LP4-3 pop rivets into the holes and set them with the rivet puller. About 40 rivets later and having to maneuver around in a few areas and remove that CB panel......the left side was complete!
