Brief Description:  Modify Spar Caps

I started off by getting the white dots redone with my paint marker so as to make sure that the positive terminals on the LED indicator lights would be easily identified.

I then went back to my reconsideration of the spar caps. I looked and pondered if there was ANY reason to not attach the caps. All the wires have been passed through that will pass through the caps and I can think of nothing ese that needs to be done in the spar cap areas. I am just trying to make sure all the bases are covered due to the fact that the installation of both spar caps involves 80 pull rivets........if I am overlooking something that would require the spar caps to be removed....it wouldn't be fun that's for sure!

During my pondering I also decided that the spar cap has some good real estate on it for potentially being used to affix say.......a RAM mount for an IPAD or a camera mount or ????? So I decided that the upper angle of the spar cap on each side would receive some nutplates for any such decision to utilize the real estate for something. Once again....this would be impossible (except for rivnuts....which work marginally) to make a good installation.

So I measured and came up with dimensions that I thought would work well for securing a mounting plate in the future for whatever purpose I deem. They will be semi-obscured as they are on the upper angle. I put in the holes and #8 nutplates in a mirror image for left and right spar caps.

I believe my next work session will be installing the spar caps as I feel there is nothing hindering me from installing them.....but not having them on is hindering other items from being installed!
