Brief Description:  Canopy band clamp & floor

I made some adjustments to the original band clamp that I made to hold the skirts in place while the Sika cures. I had aluminum bar stock that was 1/2 inch thick that was too rigid. I bought the same size stock again only it was only 3/8 inch thick. That had just enough flexibility for clamping and forming around the skirt curve. I used a few shims on the clamp to get the pressure points on a couple spots that needed to be squeezed specifically.

With that done I did some measuring and musing about my cockpit floor. I painted the floors with Stewart Systems paint and they came out good....but in working in the cockpit I already had a few sctatches in the paint due to chips and dropping things......so I have been pondering what I wanted to do with it. Some folks just leave the paint and over time it becomes pretty ratty looking. Others use carpet of various types and installations. I have had carpet and it gets worn and sometimes gets loose and bunches or gathers and your heels get stuck in it.

I decided to get some stainless steel sheeting to bond to the skin. I felt that would be a good solution for my dilemna. I did some measuring and will go on McMaster-Carr and see what I can find.

I decided to paint my brake fluid reservoir before calling it a night. I was going to paint it white but the white rattle can was not working......so I painted it red instead since I had that color!
