Brief Description:  Right Console #26 FINAL

I just had a few things to complete on the right console. I began by countersinking the side panel for all the #6 screws that will be used to attach the panel. So I drilled them to final size and used the countersink to get the heads flush.

I used .032 aluminum sheet metal to make the side panel on the right console as opposed to .040 for the left console since it had to support the aileron trim handle. Countersinking .032 aluminum isn't really optimal due to how thin it is. Normally countersinking is for aluminum .040 or thicker and thinner sheets get dimpled. Since there is nothing structural about the console and dimpling would require countersinking a lot of locations on the frame....I decided to simply countersink the side panel....which worked out very well.

I had to remove some material off the front of the door and the outside of the panel that sits around the spar cap to get the fit correct. I installed all the parts of the console and made sure everything fit well. All fitting is complete and the two consoles are finally done.

This is the FINAL worksession for the left and right consoles.....the total time to design and build the two consoles was: 147.2 hours (Left=74.7 / Right= 72.5) !!!

Ok....we will try to stay with kit plan and refrain from modifications......haha.

Next item: The forward baggage door.
