With all the deburring and match drilling complete, I began assembling the panels. I started by countersinking all the rivet locations. Next I installed the nutplates for the main panel cover. Next it was riveting the panel flange to the panel halves.
One other thing I do is run an 8-32 tap through the nutplates. I tap all the nutplates on areas that may be removed on a regular or semi-regular basis. Other places such as panels or structural locations I do not tap. If push comes to shove I can always use a little locktite to give a little more security if needed.....but I have never had to do so.
Now the panel is ready to locate and match drill to the fuselage location during the next work session. With the Thanksgiving holiday gathering there was tough to get build time in....but it was a great time with family!!
