Brief Description:  Rudder Pedals

I continued to assemble the rudder pedal assembly. I bolted the nylon end caps onto WD-816.

Next I removed WD-817 rudder slide and began to layout the adjustment holes. I slid the F-8107 spacer on the slide, which limits the forward movement of the rudder pedals to keep them from contacting the firewall. The instructions call for sliding WD-816 all the way forward and using the locking pin hole to drill the forward pedal position. Next I slid WD-816 all the way back to locate the most rearward adjust position.

The instructions then call to measure and drill holes every 1" along the slide. I measured and found that it does not come out evenly in 1" increments. I determined that I would measure 1" intervals from the rear adjustment and then allow the shorter distance of the remainder approximately 7/8" between the full forward position and the next position. My experience in Ricks RV8 is that I usually extend the pedals to the most forward position, but there may be some people that may like just a little less....wherein the rear position will accomodate those pilots who are the shortest of stature! That was my thinkin anyway.
